Budget
We must balance our budget. I do not mean the way politicians balance budgets. I mean the way normal people balance budgets. The idea we can borrow our way into economic freedom and prosperity is more than ridiculous. I once tried the notion of borrowing from one credit card to pay the other. Guess what? It didn’t work! Why our government cannot figure this out, I will never understand.
Our budget is filled with items and projects that have no business being in a federal budget. Many people call these projects pork. However, what do you call that pork when it is for our district? That is the tough question that must be asked. Remember this, every project a candidate promises will most likely be part of a trade-off with another district in another state for a project that we would call pork, just like they will call ours pork. This vicious cycle must end. It cannot be stopped cold turkey, though I am hopeful that it could be. To begin the end, so to speak, we should immediately stop the funding of any new project that is not clearly defined within our Constitution as permitted federal spending. This is going to be a hard thing to do. When I am elected, will you punish me because I voted against building a museum for snails in Ranger? Some will say we better get what we can, or they say that since everyone else is doing it, we should as well. Do you agree to the looting of Best Buy during a state of emergency? Do you accept the excuse that everyone else is doing it from your children? We are adults, electing adults; all of us should start acting like it!
I am not even going to bring up all of the wasteful spending. We all know it exists, we are all against it.
I have decided to run for congress after many years of people asking me, "Why don't you run for congress?"
I believe the current Republican leadership has failed Republicans everywhere, but more than that, they have failed Americans.
There is nothing wrong with true Conservative principles. The problem is the lack of actually living up to those principles.
I hope that my one voice in Congress, along with the thousands of voices of support for me, will usher in a new wave of conservative Republicans that will always stand by the principles of the Republican Party. In doing so, our country will have better days ahead than anyone could ever possibly imagine.
